Blast off into MySpace

ANNABELLE Priftis hopes her singing career will take off the modern way via the internet.
The 13-year-old wants to follow in the footsteps of British singer-songwriter Sandie Thom, who rose to fame by podcasting on MySpace. .
Annabelle has written 15 songs and has her own website and MySpace page, where people can listen to four of her songs.
But you don't need to log on to the internet to hear Annabelle's tunes.
The Korowa student will be performing on home soil rather than in cyber space at the Glen Iris school's annual carnival this weekend.
``MySpace is certainly a good way to get your music out there,'' Annabelle said.
``I hope to get signed one day and make ballads and contemporary pop music and I have gotten a few gigs through MySpace.
``It's a real thrill to get up in front of other people and perform.''
